Puro Puppy Love Mural Design

The mural Puro Puppy Love was a collaboration between The DoSeum and the Pearl. I was tasked with designing something that spoke to both organizations while celebrating National Dog Month. I wanted the mural to be playful and vibrant, bringing an unexpected burst of joy to the space and capturing the heartwarming energy of the love between dogs and their owners.

Pup-Up to Pearl

The DoSeum Marketing team wanted to create a series of fun, interactive, and strategic pop-up experiences around San Antonio to promote our summer traveling exhibit, Dogs! A Science Tail. These "Pup-Ups" featured a free-standing photo op, giveaways, dog treats, bandanas, and stickers at various dog parks, all designed to raise awareness for our summer exhibit. They were a big hit around town—so much so that The Pearl reached out, eager to collaborate on something new and exciting to celebrate National Dog Day.

The Big Idea

The task was to come up with a concept for the rotating monthly mural at The Pearl, celebrating the love between dogs and their owners. Pearl and The DoSeum wanted something that would really pop, creating an experience that would make San Antonio dog lovers visiting smile and stop for a picture!

To do this, I used not only the traditional wall space provided but also the physical elements around it. I pitched the idea of hanging tennis balls from the structure, as if they were "bouncing" right into the bright, colorful mural. This would guide guests to the perfect spot for a picture with their pup!

The Results

I’m beyond thrilled with how everything came out! From the "pup-ups" to the mural to the tennis balls – it turned out even better than I could have imagined.

It was an amazing couple of months filled with new friends, pup cups, and bark-tastic activities. The installation was enjoyed by thousands of San Antonians and tourists alike, all with their furry best friends. I wouldn’t have wanted to spend the Dog Days of Summer with anyone other than the amazing folks at the Pearl!
